Looking to win its third consecutive MIAA B Conference lacrosse championship, John Carroll earned its place in Thursday’s final with yet another dominant effort against a league opponent, defeating St. John’s Catholic Prep, 21-9, on Tuesday in Bel Air.
In winning their 10th game in a row, the Patriots charged out to an 11-3 halftime lead. Alex Rowe paced the scoring effort with five goals and Jude Brown netted four scores in the win, while Jacob Lots anchored the defense with 14 saves.
Gerstell gained its place in the championship game with an 18-9 win over Saints Peter & Paul. The Falcons had a battle on their hands for two quarters, as they led just 7-6 at the half, but they broke it wide open in the second half.
CJ Kovalsky powered the offense with five goals and two assists, followed closely by Seth Higgins with four goals and two assists. Several other Falcons had big offensive performances as well, with Kaden Ross scoring three goals and adding one assist, Joey Tabak scoring twice and dishing out three assists and Cameron Mullinix scoring twice. Jake Higgins and Zach Urban also had a goal for Gerstell and Noah Betz provided an assist.
Charles Mangold led Saints Peter & Paul with three goals and one assist and Cole Lacaze also had a hat-trick for the Sabres.
