Petty and Rugel fuel the Patriots who score three times in the second half
John Carroll moved to 2-0 in MIAA A Conference soccer, Friday, with a 4-2 road win at Boys’ Latin, as Josh Petty and Christian Rugel led the way for the Patriots.
With the score tied 2-2 in the second half, Petty slotted Rugel in the penalty area and he tucked the ball near post to give the Patriots the lead for good. Petty, who scored John Carroll’s first goal, in the opening half, assisted on the final goal as well, feeding Eric Schultz.
Rugel scored John Carroll’s second goal, 27 seconds into the second half, with an assist from Ian Wagner, while Cole Bowser had an assist on Petty’s goal.
Boys’ Latin, coming off an exciting overtime win its opener, took an early 1-0 lead on a well worked set piece and the Lakers second goal came from a magnificent strike off a deep throw.
