St. John’s Catholic Prep’s AJ Javitt recorded 12 strikeouts, Thursday, as he led his team to a 6-1 MIAA C Conference home win over Concordia Prep, at Jefferson Field, in the regular season baseball finale for both teams.

St. John’s (12-6, 12-1), which has won the last two league titles, will enter the 2016 playoffs, which get underway on Monday, as the top seed, while Concordia (11-7, 10-4) is the second seed. Both teams have first round byes and host semifinal games on Tuesday. In Monday’s opening round, 4th-seeded Gerstell Academent will host 5th-seeded Saints Peter & Paul and 3rd-seeded Chapelgate Christian will host 6th-seeded Beth Tfiloh. (See complete bracket below)

Javitt also had a big day at the plate, putting himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits. He singled in the 2nd inning, homered in the 3rd and tripled in the 5th. Teammate Spencer Griffin also delivered 3 hits, including a triple.

Andrew Holtman staked Concordia to an early 1-0 lead with a RBI single in the first, but Vincent Ceci matched it with a RBI single for the Vikings in the home half of the inning.

Griffin put SJCP on top to stay with a RBI single in the second. The Vikes scored their remaining four runs in the 3rd, highlighted by a RBI single from Kyle Mummey and Javitt’s 2-run home run. Seth McRoberts and Ricky Street each had a double in the victory.
