Severn School shocked Archbishop Curley with a late MIAA B Conference football comeback, Friday at Curley, to claim 12-10 come from behind win over the Friars.
Down 10-0 at halftime, Kendal Harmon capped a 10 play, 80 yard drive with a 15-yard touchdown run to put the Admirals on the board, midway through the third quarter.
The teams traded punts until with one minute remaining in the fourth quarter, before Severn quarterback Ben Bedard found Jacob Perreten alone down the sideline for an 80-yard touchdown pass to put the Admirals ahead.
With just precious seconds remaining, Curley was able to drive all the way back to the Severn 10 yard, but Joel Mandish sealed the victory for the Admirals with an interception in the end zone.
Severn improves their overall record to 4-3 on the season and it is now 2-1 in the B Conference. The Admirals will host Boys’ Latin for Homecoming next Saturday. The Lakers are 3-0 in the league and tied for first with St. Vincent Pallotti.
Severn’s defense was led by senior defensive end Eric Dugay, senior linebacker Darby Nelligan, junior linebacker Jacob Jarosz and junior defensive end Charlie Marculiwitz. The Admirals have allowed just 41 points over their last four games.
