Three Gaels combine for 48 points in 30-point romp

Chapelgate Christian, a program never shy about lacing them up with the top basketball programs in the region, hosted Hagerstown’s St. Maria Goretti of the Baltimore Catholic League, in the basketball opener for both schools, Thursday, and got its season underway in strong fashion with a 79-44 win over the Yellow Jackets.
Goretti, looking to continue the success it had last season where the Gales finished 29-9, played well throughout, scoring 20 points or more in the first three quarters. This can be attributed to three of Goretti’s players, Abdu T, Josh Mack, and Przemeck Goleck, who combined to score 46 points.
Free throws seemed to be a problem for Chapelgate Christian as the Yellow Jackets were only able to net 10 out of 19. Still, Chapelgate scored 20 first quarter points and only trailed by three at the end of the first break. In the second quarter, however, Goretti outscored Chapelgate 20-3 to break open the game.
Odell Dickerson and Brandon Wise combined for 25 points to lead Chapelgate
