Greyhounds jump in front with two first half goals


No. 4 Gilman rebounded from a season-opening draw with with Severn School to pull off a big win on Saturday in Roland Park, shutting out Haverford Prep (PA), 3-0.

The Fords came in as the No. 28 team in the nation but could not solve Gilman’s defensive effort.

Sophomores Alden Booth and Jacob Muher each scored scored a goal in the first half, staking the Greyhounds (1-0-1) to the early lead, and freshman Devon Nixon scored in the second half.

Junior midfielder Johnny Melancon had two assists for Gilman and junior keeper Grant Farley recorded his second shutout of the season.

Next, Gilman will open its MIAA A Conference schedule at home on Friday against Mount St. Joseph.
