Calvert Hall, which is poised to open the season ranked No. 1 in the VSN Boys Basketball Top 20, outscored visiting Mount Carmel 21-7 in the second quarter of a MIAA A/Baltimore Catholic League contest, Wednesday in Towson, and the run propelled the Cardinals to a 59-51 victory.

Justin Gorham and Evan Phoenix shared the team-high scoring honors for the Cardinals (2-0, 1-0 MIAA, 1-0 BCL) with 14 points each. Also reaching double figures for Calvert Hall was Nico Clareth who finished with 11 points.

In addition, Drew Edwards and TJ Duckett each scored eight points.

Mount Carmel (2-2, 0-1, 0-1) was paced by a game-high 22 points by Will Jenkins.  Jenkins also 10 rebounds for a double-double. Brian Jefferson added 13 points for the Cougars.
