Lakers top Severn for first win of 2021


The Boys’ Latin baseball team scored four times in the bottom of the third inning, Tuesday, to build a 5-0 lead and the Lakers would go on to defeat visiting Severn, 5-1, on Lake Avenue. Although both teams are in the MIAA B Conference, this game was a non-league contest.

Charlie Godin led the host Lakers (1-3) with two hits in three trips, a run scored and three RBI’s. In the fourth inning rally, Godin stroked a two-run double and later scored on a two-run double by Jack Corrado. JT Windle also had a nice day at the plate for the Lakers, going 2-for-3 with a double.

Matt Richmond, Matt Bailowitz and Vinny Arthur each pitched two innings for BL, while Godin pitched a scoreless seventh.

For Severn (0-2), Jack Castleberry went 3-for-3 and Sean Ward had two hits in three trips.
