Dragons win tight one at McDonogh, 47-44

In a contest that was razor close the entire way, visiting Glenelg Country School opened its 2021 MIAA A Conference basketball schedule with a 47-44 road win at McDonogh School, Wednesday night.

Locked in a 21-21 tie at the half, the Dragons (1-0) got seven fourth quarter points from sophomore Franklin Ayissi-Etoh, who led the team with 16 points, as they turned back the Eagles. Ayissi-Etoh is as a transfer from Wootton High School in Rockville.

Senior Austin Williams added 10 points for GCS, while freshman Xavier Pickett and sophomore Kamal Francis combined for 17 points.

McDonogh (0-1) was paced by 15 points each from Dani-Dennis Sutton and Siena University-bound forward Jared Billups.
