Russo helps Dragons rout Severn in five innings to pick up their 10th conference win

Glenelg Country exploded for seven runs in the bottom of the fourth and went on to rout visiting Severn, 11-1, in a run-rule shortened, 5-inning MIAA B Conference baseball game, Monday in Ellicott City.

The victory advances the Dragons to 11-1 on the season, including a 10-1 record in the league where they sit in first place.

Tyler Russo threw four innings of one hit ball to earn the victory and Kevin Gamble pitched one scoreless inning for the hold. Cole Sterry and Jake Schiller each had two hits and Marcus Khademi, Tommy Berbert and Brian Hammond had two RBI’s to lead the Dragons offense.

Boys’ Latin, which has won the last three league titles, sits in second place with an 8-2 conference mark, followed by Gerstell Academy (5-3), Mount Carmel (6-4) and St. Vincent Pallotti (6-4). Pallotti handed Glenelg Country its only loss.

Annapolis Area Christian (5-4) currently sits in sixth-place and Friends (4-6) is also still in the playoff hunt.
