Heubeck drives in six runs as the Greyhounds rally from an early deficit
On a Chamber of Commerce afternoon in Roland Park, the Gilman baseball team took the short trip to Roland Park neighbor Boys’ Latin for a non-league MIAA baseball battle and, after an fast-start by the host Lakers, the Greyhounds rallied for a 17-9 win.
Senior Peter Heubeck had a huge day at the plate, going 4-for-5 with two doubles and six RBI’s against Laker pitching.
Gilman score in each of the first six innings, but did not lead for good until they scored four times in the top of the fifth to break an 8-8 tie.
Charlie Godin and Peter Makris hit a home runs and each drove in three runs for the Lakers, who scored five times in the first inning and three more times in the second to lead 8-5. Godin added a double, while Henry Genth and Caleb Woodlon also doubled.
Unfortunately for the Lakers they just couldn’t slow the Gilman attack, as Matt Liddel and Casey Bishop each had two hits, two RBI’s and four runs scored. Liddel added a double as did sophomore Cooper Sidell. Eight of the nine batters in Gilman’s starting lineup scored at least one run.
