Tucker and Stines lead Mount St. Joseph to third straight victory

Freshman forward Bryson Tucker scored 20 points and D’Angelo Stines added 17 as Mount St. Joseph defeated Gilman School, 64-44, in a MIAA A Conference basketball contest in Irvington.

Senior Sean Carr finished with 13 points for the Gaels, who won their third straight to improve to 4-1. The Athol Avenue school started fast with a 14-4 first quarter advantage.

Gilman closed to 42-36 after three quarters, but Mount St. Joseph pulled away, thanks to Stines and solid free throw shooting. Stines, an Old Dominion University recruit, scored 10 points in the final frame and the Gaels shot 10-of-12 from the charity stripe.

Junior guard Christian Winborne had 19 points for Gilman (3-3), which dropped its third straight after a 3-0 start. Rayuan Lane added 12 for the Greyhounds, who’ll host John Carroll School Wednesday evening in MIAA A action.

Mount St. Joseph travels to Glenelg Country School Wednesday for a MIAA A match.
