Mount St. Joseph drops No. 9 Glenelg Country in MIAA A hoops; Edokpayi and Brelsford combine for 31

After dropping its first MIAA A Conference road basketball match Monday, Mount St. Joseph returned to the cozy confines of the The Smith Center in Irvington Wednesday evening. It was what the sixth-ranked Gaels needed, claiming a 62-48 victory over No. 9 Glenelg Country School.

Fairfield University-bound forward Jason Edokpayi scored a game-high 17 points for the Gaels (5-3 overall, 2-1 MIAA A), and Tyler Brelsford finished with 14. Jared Robinson led Glenelg Country with 15 points.

The Gaels, who lost 69-6o at No. 11 McDonogh School Monday evening, used a 21-9 second quarter to build a 35-20 halftime advantage. The Irvington school led 53-30 after three quarters.

Sean Carr chipped in 12 points for St. Joe, which travels to Catonsville for the annual Catonsville Cup battle with the Comets. Senior point guard Noah Charles and sophomore Noah Batchelor finished with 12 and 10, respectively for Glenelg Country (2-3, 0-2 MIAA A), which lost post Cole Paar to a foot injury in the opening quarter.

The Dragons return to action next Wednesday at Annapolis Area Christian School.
