Quakers edge Sandy Springs Friends to take their own classic

Friends School hosted the Quaker Classic over the weekend at Notre Dame University of Maryland and came away with the tournament crown after an exciting overtime win over Sandy Springs Friends in Saturday’s championship game.

The Quakers downed SSF, 61-60, in the final on a game-winning three-pointer by Jaden Derry in overtime. Derry finished with 11 points and was named the tournament MVP.

Chase Kirkwood led the Quakers in the final with 25 points and J.P. Vassor, Jr. finished with 15 points before fouling out.

Kirkwood received first-team all-tournament. Friends also routed Park School, 84-34, in Friday’s semifinals. The Quakers are now 3-2 on the season.
