Key league matchups are on the front burner as the fourth full weekend of the area football season starts Friday.

The first battle of VSN Top 5 teams with No. 2 Mount St. Joseph and third-ranked Calvert Hall College marks the return of MIAA A Conference play while defending MIAA B champ St. Mary’s comes to Baltimore to face upstart and undefeated Archbishop Curley.

Franklin and Milford Mill renew their rivalry in Baltimore County, and South River looks to end two decades of misery against Arundel in Anne Arundel County. Eighteen teams enter the weekend undefeated.

Below is the top five games of the weekend, followed by the complete area schedule.

No. 6 Franklin (2-1) at No. 7 Milford Mill Academy (3-0)

When: Friday, 6 p.m.

What you need to know: The premier rivalry currently in Baltimore County League is renewed. The Indians started their run to a third Class 3A state title in six seasons with a 15-12 victory in the North Region semifinals (Milford Mill won 19-13 in overtime during regular season).

No. 16 St. Mary’s (2-2) at No. 19 Archbishop Curley (4-0)

When: Friday, 6:30 p.m.

What you need to know: A share of first place in the MIAA B Conference is the prize. The two-time defending league champ Saints have won 11 of their last 12 league decisions (including postseason) while Curley looks to reach 5-0 for the first time since its 2013 perfect season (11-0).

No. 18 South River (3-0) at No. 15 Arundel (2-1)

When: Friday, 6:30 p.m.

What you need to know: The Seahawks look to continue their best start since 2010. Arundel has won 15 straight over its Anne Arundel County rival.

South River, with senior quarterback David Foust, will try to beat No. 15 Arundel for the first time since 2003 as the 18th-ranked Seahawks visit Gambrills Friday evening.

No. 2 Mount St. Joseph (3-1) at No. 3 Calvert Hall College (4-0)

When: Friday, 7 p.m.

What you need to know: After being suspended last year in the wake of the St. Frances Academy controversy, MIAA A Conference play returns with a matchup of title contenders. The Gaels defeated the Cardinals last year in Irvington.
