Boys’ Latin School announced, this week, that Charles Franklin is the school’s new head varsity golf coach.

Franklin, who serves as Upper School Co-Head and Director of Academics, is excited to return to the coaching arena and he is taking over a squad which won the MIAA B Conference team title last spring.  Previously, he coached JV basketball at BL, and has four years of varsity golf coaching experience at Lawrence Academy in Maine.  He also previously coached varsity and JV soccer and basketball at other schools.

“I’m tremendously excited to continue the tradition of excellence within our golf program here at Boys’ Latin,” Franklin said. “The boys are coming off a championship season last spring, but I’m even more impressed with the way the boys represented the school on and off the course.  My goal is to build upon this foundation in the upcoming spring season.”

Coach Franklin is a graduate of Amherst College (MA), where he played both golf and soccer.

“Boys’ Latin’s athletic community is very excited to have such a committed coach lead our golf program,” said BL Athletic Director Michael Thomas.  “We strive to hold true to the teacher-coach model. Coach Franklin knows our school, our boys, and will continue to be a great asset.  The boys are lucky to have him.”
