Dons edge Glenelg Country, 56-54

Matt Fischer hit an acrobatic layup at the buzzer, Wednesday in Ellicott City and visiting Loyola escaped with a 56-54 MIAA A Conference basketball victory over Glenelg Country.

Senior Brendan Fox triggered the winning sequence when he connected with Fischer on a long pass.

Loyola (5-3, 1-0 MIAA A) led by as many as nine in the third quarter before Glenelg Country (3-1, 1-1 MIAA A) came back. Loyola’s Conner Hepting made two free throws with 18 seconds left to give Loyola a 3-point lead before the Dragons made a three pointer with four seconds left to tie the score. After a Loyola timeout, with 1.2 seconds left, Fox and Fischer orchestrated the game winner.

Fischer scored 19 points to claim game-high honors, while Noah Charles and Igor Yoka-Bratasz each scored 16 for the Dragons.
