St. Paul’s hosts a National Signing Day ceremony


Nine members of the St. Paul’s lacrosse team, including five which were three-year letter winners were honored on Nov. 14th in a National Signing Day ceremony at the Brooklandville School. In addition, the wrestler Imran Heard, who is heading to Rutgers, and baseball player Kevin Madden, who will play at Virginia Tech, were also honored.

Below is a capsule on the nine lacrosse players:

Logan Zimnoch – 3-time letterman at midfield. Scored 29 goals and assisted on 13 others in 2017. Dynamic and explosive player heading to play for Shawn Nadalen’s Towson Tigers.

Andrew Caples – 3-time letterman at defense and long-stick midfield. Scooped up 37 groundballs and 17 caused turnovers in 2017. Also a 2-time starter at defense for the Crusaders football squad.  Big, rangy, aggressive defender headed to play for the Richmond Spiders.

Nick Hapney – 3-time letterman at defense. Scooped up 44 groundballs and caused 21 turnovers in 2017. Big, strong defender who throws heavy checks and communicates very well on the field. Played football on this years’ Crusader team. First player from SP headed to play for Brian Holman and the Utah Utes.

Jack Brocato – 3-time letterman at attack and midfield. Scored 10 goals and added 21 assists in 2017. Smooth lefty with a strong lacrosse IQ headed to play for Jim Berkman’s defending national champions Salisbury Seagulls.

Cole Ament – 2-time letterman at attack and midfield. Scored 9 goals and added 2 assists in 2017. Excellent step down shooter with a rocket of a shot headed to play for defending national champion Salisbury Seagulls.

Spencer Hall – 2-time letterman at midfield. Scored 4 goals and added 3 assists in 2017. Fast, athletic, and intelligent two-way middie, who is also a 4-time letterman on the Crusader soccer team. Headed to play lacrosse at Franklin & Marshall College.

Milo Moose – 2-time letterman at midfield. Scored 3 goals and added 2 assists in 2017. Athletic and hard-working two-way middie heading to play at Dickinson college for coach Dave Webster.

Nick Ioannou – 2-time letterman at midfield. Scored 2 goals and added 2 assists in 2017. Also earned two varsity letters on the Crusader soccer team. Big, fast, and athletic two-way middie headed to play at the University of Tampa.

Ham Whiteford – 3-time letterman at defense.  Scooped up 24 groundballs and caused 15 turnovers in 2017. Intelligent, athletic, skilled, and hard-working defender headed to play for Dave Campbell’s Middlebury Panthers.
