Falcons build a big early lead then rally for victory
After squandering an early 8-1 lead, homesteading Gerstell Academy scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning and held visiting Severn scoreless in the Seventh to pull out a come-from-behind 11-9 MIAA B Conference baseball victory over the visiting Admirals, Tuesday in Finksburg.
Severn started its comeback with three runs in the top of the third and then added two in the fifth and three in the sixth to take a 9-8 lead. Ty Benz homered during the rally and Tommy Casleberry tossed three scoreless innings of relief to give the Admirals a chance to fight back.
Reece Early hit a home run as the Falcons jumped on top early. In the game-winning sixth inning rally, Max Friedman doubled in two runs to give Gerstell the lead for good. Early got the save with a groundout and two strikeouts to close the game in the seventh.
