Junior guard Noah Locke scored a game-best 23 points and Willie Brown chipped in 11 as No. 11 McDonogh School defeated 16th-ranked St. Frances Academy, 61-47, in a MIAA A Conference basketball contest at Phelps Gym in east Baltimore.

The Eagles (19-9 overall) went on a 21-12 spurt in the third quarter, completing a season sweep of last season’s MIAA A Conference champ Panthers. With No. 5 Mount Carmel clinching the top seed out of the Red Division with a 78-77 win over Archbishop Spalding Wednesdsay, McDonogh (11-5 MIAA A) will have the No. 2 seed and host 12th-ranked Glenelg Country School in a tournament quarterfinal match next week.

Senior post Eral Penn had 14 points for St. Frances (14-17, 5-11 MIAA A), coming off victories over then-No. 7 Woodlawn and then-No. 2 Mount St. Joseph, last week. George Sydnore finished with 11 points.

St. Frances travel to No. 7 John Carroll School in its regular season finale Friday evening.
