Cardinals score 11 as Friday night baseball returns to Crispino Stadium

Fueled by a big night from leadoff hitter Chase Davalli, the Calvert Hall baseball team defeated rival Loyola, 11-2, in MIAA A Conference baseball, Friday night at Carlo Crispino Stadium, home of the Cardinals.

Davalli started things for Calvert Hall (4-2 overall, 2-2 MIAA A) with a leadoff walk in the bottom of the first and promptly scored on a double to right by Alex Kahn. Calvert Hall added two more in the first on a two-run double by Jake Butler.

The score remained 3-0 into the Calvert Hall third when the home squad scored six times.

Calvert Hall’s first two runs of the sixth scored on an error and a passed ball and Jannuel Wispi-Robles added the third with an RBI single. The bases were loaded again later in the inning and Davalli promptly cleared them with a three-run double.

Loyola (0-4, 0-4) scored both of its runs in the fourth, as Jack Belbot had an RBI triple and scored on a single by Trent Waire. Calvert Hall got both runs back in its half of the fourth on an RBI groundout by Owen Liberto and a Loyola error.

Scott Borgmann was the winning pitcher for Calvert Hall, pitching the first six innings, allowing two runs on four hits with five strikeouts and just one walk.
