The Calvert Hall lacrosse team tuned up for a 3-game swing through North Carolina this weekend with a strong 14-2 season-opening win over visiting Saints Peter & Paul, Tuesday in Towson.

The Cardinals got production from many sources, with Brendan Curry’s hat-trick leading 10 goal scorers.  The Cardinals jump on top 3-0 after one quarter and led 7-1 at the half. They then duplicated that effort in the second half.

Omari DeBerry and Rory McCullough each scored twice for Calvert Hall, while Jacob Kelly, JT Bugliosi and Ethan Mintzer each had 1 goal and 1 assist. Also scoring for the Cardinals were Ryan Swain, Peter Ilardo, Timmy Certeza and Sean Reilly. In addition, Ryan Ketchen pitched in with an assist for the Cards.

Nate Schaffer led the Sabres with a goal and an assist and Luke Harrington also scored for Saints Peter & Paul.

Calvert Hall played four goalkeepers with starter Joe McSorley finishing with 3 saves. Branden Warren followed and made 2 stops, as did Liam Durragh. Alex Shields closed the game in the Cardinals cage and he stopped 3 shots. Finally, Chance Campbell led the Cardinals at the face-off, winning 12 out of 13.

In North Carolina, Calvert Hall will play Lake Norman (NC), Ravenscroft (NC) and St Johns (TX).
