Top-ranked Archbishop Curley wrapped up its regular season, Friday, with a 4-1 win at No. 9 Gilman, the Friars second win over the Greyhounds this week and their ninth straight overall. With the victory, Curley clinched the top-seed in the A Conference as the league heads into the playoffs next week.

Senior Matt Brummet scored twice in the first half and classmate Alejandro Arbaelez added another as the Friars (18-3-2, 13-2-1) built a 3-0 lead at the half and cruised to victory.

The loss did not affect Gilman’s place in the standings or its playoff seed. They Greyhounds (9-6-4, 7-6-3) will travel to McDonogh for a quarterfinal match with the 4th-seeded Eagles. Curley will host the winner of that game, next Thursday.

Second ranked Mount St. Joseph is the second seed and will join Curley with a first round bye. The Gaels will host the winner of Monday’s other quarterfinal which features No. 6 Loyola Blakefield visiting No. 3 Calvert Hall, on Thursday in Irvington.

The MIAA A Conference championship game is scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 6 Anne Arundel Community College at 5:30 p.m.
