Friars and Vikings now share first place in the conference
Heading in Wednesday evening’s MIAA B Conference basketball action four teams entered undefeated in league play and only two emerged umblemmished.
Archbishop Curley and St. John’s Catholic Prep each moved to 2-0 in the conference, sharing the league lead, as both teams handed other league rivals their first conference loss.
At Curley, the Friars (11-4 overall routed visiting Friends, 67-52, as senior Caleb Johnson lead the way with a game-high 25 points.
Senior Dalen Brandon added 16 points for the Friars and senior Josh Knapp scored 13. Kendrick Curtis paced Friends with 19 points and Quincy Marchelya scored 15 points for the Quakers (8-6, 1-1 MIAA B).
SJCP (7-8 overall) went on the road and defeated Chapelgate Christian (9-8, 3-1 MIAA B), 71-62, as sophomore Masai Troutman and senior Tyriel Collins combined for 35 points.
St. John’s outscored the Yellow Jackets 23-12 in the first quarter and maintained the lead most of the way. Chapelgate was led by 14 points from Jax Felder and 11 from Jordan Praylow.
