Following an eight goal first half, No. 6 Loyola managed just two scores over the final 24 minutes of regulation, as 13th-ranked Archbishop Spalding battled back from a 3-goal halftime deficit to gain overtime. In the extra time, Colin Clothier ripped home his only goal of the contest and lifted the Dons to a critical, 11-10, MIAA A Conference win on the road.

With two regular season games to play, Loyola (7-5 overall) improved to 4-3 in the conference and can clinch a playoff spot with a win over Mount St. Joseph on Friday at Blakefield. The Dons, currently in fifth place, lead Gilman (3-4) by one game and St. Joe (2-5) and Severn (2-5) by two games each. Those four teams are battling for the final two playoff seeds and with a win on Friday the Dons would have wins over all four.

Nick Goles scored 4 goals in the victory and Cole Williams had 1 goal and 5 assists. Phil Wies also had a big day with 3 goals and 2 assists. Liam Bateman also scored for the Dons.

Junior Luke Legnard led Spalding (5-9, 1-6) with 3 goals and Brett Baucia had 2 goals and 3 assists. George Bradley contributed 2 goals and an assist, while Israel Melendez finished with 1 goal and 1 assist. Also scoring single goals for the Cavaliers were Eric Husselbaugh and James Sherwood.
