In a heavyweight semifinal showdown at the Rotary Roundball Classic in Charleston, SC, Calvert Hall senior Nico Clareth took over a tight game and led the top-ranked Cardinals to a win over national power Gaston Day (NC), Monday evening.

In a game with numerous remarkable plays and high intensity on both sides, Clareth stepped forward and claimed the contest for Calvert hall (12-2) with a stunning 30 point performance.

The Cardinals came from two down at halftime to outscore Gaston 45-34 in the second half, with Clareth doing most of the damage.  Evan Phoenix and Drew Edwards added 12 points each for Calvert Hall.

The win advances the Cardinals to Tuesday’s championship game (7:00 p.m.) where they will face Linden High (NJ).
