Quakers come from behind to edge Park School in MIAA B actionBattling for first-place in the MIAA B Conference soccer standings with visiting Park School, Tuesday, Friends School came from behind to pull out a 3-2 overtime victory over the Bruins.
The tempo was high from the start with Park getting the better of the
ball in the first 10 minutes. The Bruins went ahead in the 15th minute when a through ball was played between the Friends’ center backs and finished well.
The Quakers (5-0-1 overall, 5-0-1 MIAA B) came back strong with an equalizer, from a corner kick when a back post header from Andrew Ayers was sent back to the front post and Paul Benzer headed it in.
Park scored again late on in the first to go up 2-1, but the Quakers dominated the second half and tied it up again, after a long throw which Steve Bogusky bundled in.
The game had many more chances with Friends coming close three times in the space of 10 minutes, but the game headed to overtime.
Friends pressured Park from the OT kickoff and earned a corner. Mike
Klausner swung it back post and senior captain Owen McManus nodded home the golden goal for the win.
Park (5-2 overall) remains in the thick of the race in the B Conference, in third place, just three points back of Friends and Concordia Prep.
