Cardinals score all their points in the first half in a 30-0 victory over Avalon
Calvert Hall kicked off its 2018 football season on Saturday afternoon at Paul Angelo Russo Stadium and routed visiting Avalon, 30-0, with all 30 points coming in the opening half.
Cardinal quarterback threw for a pair of touchdown passes in the victory, including a 20-yard strike to Kai Sasaki, early in the first quarter, to get the Cardinals on the board for the first time this season.
The defense forced Avalon into a safety, later in the first, and Cobbie Floyd followed with a 29-yard touchdown run, as Calvert Hall led 16-0 after one quarter.
On the first play of second quarter, the Cardinals’ Jaden Beckles blocked a punt, which was returned 15 yards for a touchdown by teammate Mike Johnson. Then, with 4:26 to play in the opening half, Campbell got his second TD toss, this time to Justin Collins for 11 yards.
