Senior guard Drew Edwards scored 23 points and Justin Gorham added 13 points and five rebounds as third-ranked Calvert Hall College defeated 17th-ranked McDonogh School, 72-61, in a MIAA A Conference basketball contest in Towson Friday.

The victory keep the Cardinals (17-4 overall) in a three-way tie with Mount Carmel and Mount St. Joseph in the league standings at 8-3. TJ Duckett and Nico Clareth each finished with 10 points for The Hall, winners of three straight since losing at John Carroll School last week.

Junior center Bruce Moore led McDonogh (10-8, 6-5 MIAA) with 20 points and freshman guard Damian Chong Qui added 17. The Eagles, who have dropped five of six, sits in sixth-place. The top six squads in the standings at the end of regular season play advance to the postseason tournament.

McDonogh hosts Glenelg Country School Tuesday in league play. Calvert Hall travels to No. 8 Mount Carmel in a key MIAA A match Sunday afternoon.
