Evan Phoenix had 17 points and eight rebounds and junior guard Drew Edwards added 14 points, seven rebounds and four assists as No. 15 Calvert Hall College defeated Takoma Academy, 82-64, in the first round of the Sidwell Friends Invitational Tournament in the District Thursday.

The Cardinals (4-0 overall) will play Cesar Chavez Charter School from the District in the semifinals Friday evening at 8:30 p.m. The other semifinal will feature Sidwell against McKinley Tech (D.C.), which defeated St. Vincent Pallotti in the other opening round match Thursday.

Senior guard Sean Mayberry also had 14 points for the Towson school, and Nico Clareth scored all 11 of his points in the opening quarter.

Pallotti, the defending MIAA B Conference champs, takes on Evangel Christian (Va.) in the consolation bracket Friday.
