Calvert Hall soccer, looking to prepare for a bounce back season, took a young and talented squad to Northern New Jersey for pair of scrimmages against Jersey powers Harrison and Clifton, over the weekend, and impressed.
Nnayaruego Nnadozie scored one goal in each scrimmage as the Cardinals defeated Harrison, 4-0, and tied Clifton, 1-1. In the Harrison contest, Ben Alexander, Jeff Schaefer and Chris Carroll also scored one goal each.
The game with Harrison was tied at one early in the second half when Cardinal coach Rich Zinkand put Schaefer in the midfield and he ignited the offense, leading to three goals that put the game away.
The Cardinals open their regular season on Sept. 5 with a visit to MIAA A Conference rival Archbishop Curley.
