Calvert Hall’s head football coach Donald Davis has announced that the Cardinals will host Trinity Catholic High School, a football powerhouse from Ocala, Florida, on Labor Day weekend at Paul Angelo Russo Stadium.

Trinity Catholic won the 2010 2B Florida State Championship with a perfect 14-0 record.  The Celtics’ head coach John Brantley was in Towson to meet with Davis.  The two coaches sat down with Varsity Sports Network to preview their match-up.

“It’s an absolute honor, not only to represent Calvert Hall, but to represent the state of Maryland against such a great school and such a great and storied program in Trinity Catholic,” said Davis. “Coach Brantley has a great staff and a great group of kids.”

Brantley said that it will be a great match up.

“We’re looking forward to it. Its going to be a two year [home-and-home] series,” said Brantley, who has guided his squad to a record of 50-15 in five seasons. “We’re excited about our opportunity to come to Maryland on Labor Day weekend and be part of this.”

The Celtics play in the Florida High School Athletic Association and where they also won the 2B state championship in 2005.  The contest is slated for 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 31 at Calvert Hall.
