Timmy Kelly had three goals and an assist as No. 5 Calvert Hall College continued its push for a spot in the MIAA A Conference lacrosse playoffs with a 7-2 victory over Archbishop Spalding at Russo Stadium Tuesday afternoon.

Sophomore midfielder Ethan Mintzer, freshman midfielder Brendan Curry, junior Luke Ciccarone and junior attack Grant Bimstefer each recorded goals for the Cardinals (12-4 overall), who outscored the Cavaliers, 4-0 in the second half. Sophomore goalie Joe McSorley stopped eight shots.

The Cardinals, who knocked off then-No. 2 Gilman School last Friday, remained fifth (4-3 MIAA A) in the league standings. The top six teams in the standings at regular season’s end advances to the playoffs. Calvert Hall travels to No. 4 McDonogh (5-2 MIAA) Friday and hosts defending champ and No. 7 Loyola Blakefield (3-4) next Tuesday.

Patrick Cooper and Ben Garden scored for Spalding (7-10), and Brian Reilly had an assist. The Cavaliers, who are winless in league play (0-7) hosts Loyola Friday and 17th-ranked Severn School Tuesday.
