No. 2 Calvert Hall touched up host Archbishop Curley for eight runs in the top of the first inning and the Cardinals kept on swinging throughout the contest to defeat the also hot hitting Friars, 18-12, in MIAA A Conference baseball, Thursday in East Baltimore.

Calvert Hall (11-3, 6-0) only had nine hits in the ball game, including just one extra-base hit, but the Friars offered up 15 walks and the Cardinals took advantage. Leadoff-hitter Jack Finn led Calvert Hall with three hits in six trips with two runs scored and a team-high three RBI. He also had a double for the only extra-base hit by the Cards.

Alex Kriss went 2-for-4 with three runs scored and two RBI, while Nate Bosse had three RBI with one hit and three walks. Eight of the nine Cardinal hitters scored at least two runs. Calvert Hall also had 11 stolen bases with Kriss swiping three, while Jeff Jones and Gabriel Nieto had two each.

Marty Costes went 2-for-4 with a home run and three runs scored to lead Curley (3-6, 3-2), while Jordan Menfee hit a grand slam. Luke Navich was 2-for-5 for the Friars, Tommy Holcomb was 2-for-3, and Zeke Maldonado was 2-for-4.

Andrew Kilcoyqne made the start for Calvert Hall and went four innings to get the win, despite allowing five runs and nine hits. In all the Cardinals used four pitchers to finish off the Friars and all four allowed runs.
