Cardinals inch to No. 7; McDonogh falls

Calvert Hall College is the big winner among area schools in the latest Maryland State Media Football Top 25 poll.

The Cardinals, who defeated McDonogh School, 24-7, in the MIAA A Conference opener Saturday, advanced from 9th to No. 7. St. Frances Academy remains in the No. 1 position, with Archbishop Spalding (No. 3) and Mount St. Joseph (8th) maintaining their position from last week.

McDonogh fell from 4th to No. 9, and Franklin (No. 10 to 12th), St. Vincent Pallotti (11th to No. 16) and Milford Mill Academy (No. 18 to No. 19) also lost ground.

Concordia Prep missed acquiring its first state Top 25 ranking with nine votes. St. Mary’s (six), Loyola Blakefield and Broadneck (each two) also received votes.
