Idle for 11 days, Cardinals explode for 20 goals on Senior Day


Having suffered its first loss to a high school team in more than three years its last time out, three-time reigning MIAA A Conference lacrosse champion Calvert Hall had to sit with its one goal setback to St. Mary’s for 11 days, after COVID protocols forced the postponement of its game against St. Paul’s.

These facts did not figure to bode well for visiting John Carroll, Tuesday, as they visited the Hall for the Cardinals return to the field.

They did not.

Calvert Hall (2-1 overall, 2-1 MIAA A) exploded for five goals, including nine from the duo of Jordan Wray and Ethan Long, in a 20-3 win over the Patriots.

Wray tortured John Carroll with five goals and one assist, while Long scored four times and dished out two assists. They got plenty of help.

EJ Vasile and Wyatt Hottle each had two goals and one assist, while Mic Kelly and Shuey Kelly each had one goal and three assists. Jojo Dean had one goal and on helper and Alex Ferrara, Jay Real and Peyton Booth netted one goal each. Rounding out the scoring were single assists from Luke Whalen, Sam Szweda and Joe Duggan.

John Carroll (0-6, 0-6) on Seniroreceived single goals from Alex Mink, Logan Trombley and Cam Corrigan, and assists from Max Snellnurg and Alex Stewart.
