Calvert Hall built a 13 point halftime lead, but had to hold on as visiting McDonogh battled back over the final two quarters before falling to the No. 16 Cardinals, 62-58, in MIAA A Conference basketball, Wednesday at Calvert Hall.

Nico Clareth had a big night in leading the Cardinals (3-0, 2-0), scoring a game-high 23 points to go with four rebounds and three assists.  Drew Edwards was also a major contributor for the Cards, scoring 17 points, grabbing four rebounds and dishing out two assists.

Running the Calvert Hall offense was Reggie Rouse, who was brilliant with seven assists, no turnovers and two assists.  In addition, Evan Phoenix, Chris Wallace and TJ Duckett combined for 20 points, 15 rebounds and two assists.

McDonogh fell to 0-3 overall and 0-2 in the league.
