In a showdown of two MIAA A Conference golf teams off to 2-0 starts, Calvert Hall stayed undefeated with a 15-6 win over St. Paul’s at Country Club of Maryland, on Wednesday.

The Cardinals (3-0) got three points from junior Charles Carter and 2.5 points from seniors Doug Grem and Jimmy Workeister.  Senior co-captain Paul Schwing and sophomore Ryan Camille collected two points each.  The visiting Crusaders got a three point sweep in the #1 pairing, as junior Ben Morris beat Calvert Hall senior co-captain Kevin May.

“This was about as good as it gets in terms of quality of play in high school golf,” said Calvert Hall head coach Drew Forrester after the match.  “Both teams played outstanding golf.  It came down to a couple of key holes where our guys made a putt or stuck it close with a chip.  We knew going in St. Paul’s was going to be tough and we were right.  I’m proud of the way my guys played today because they had to play that well or we weren’t going to win.”

Calvert Hall now enjoys its annual spring break, but returns to action on Thursday, April 9 with a home match with Boys’ Latin (3:15 pm).  St. Paul’s is off until Monday, April 13 when they travel to Woodholme Country Club to take on McDonogh.
