The league portion of the MIAA B Conference baseball regular season is now conclude and six playoff seeds are set to begin the double-elimination post-season tournament on Friday.
Boys’ Latin, which defeated St. Vincent Pallotti, 13-4, on Wednesday, finished at 13-1 in the league and weill be the top-seed in the playoffs. The Lakers, along with second-seeded Glenelg Country (10-4), which locked up second place with a 6-5 win over Annapolis Area Christian, also on Wednesday, will have first round byes in the tournament. Both teams will play their first playoff games on their home fields, on Monday.
Severn (9-5) is the third-seed, followed by fourth-seeded St. Vincent Pallotti (7-7), fifth-seeded AACS (6-8) and sixth-seeded Mount Carmel (5-9). Mount Carmel and Park School actually finished tied for sixth. The two split their head-to-head meetings, but the Cougars earned the tie-break with a win over second-seeded Glenelg Country.
In Friday’s opening round, Severn will host Mount Carmel at Kinder Farm Park and Pallotti will entertain AACS at Panther Park. The Severn/Mount Carmel winner will advance to play Glenelg Country and the Pallotti/AACS victor will go to Boys’ Latin.
The first elimination game of the tournament will take place on Monday between Friday’s losers. The tournament will progress through next week, heading towards the finals at Harford Community College on Sunday, May 21.
