Lakers rout Arundel, while Lions take out host Scorpions
No. 11 Boy’s Latin and No. 15 Dulaney both won opening round games in the 2017 Oakland Mills Holiday Tournament, Wednesday, to setup a showdown for the tournament title on Thursday.
BL led wire-to-wire in the opening game as the Lakers routed Arundel 83-60. Jaylin Andrews had another big performance to lead Boys’ Latin, as he scored 23 points, grabbed six rebounds, and had six assists and six steals.
In addition, the Lakers got 16 points from Cam Spencer and 12 from Chris Bates. The win allowed BL to snap a two game losing streak after opening the season with eight straight wins.
Jontue Wise scored 15 points to lead Arundel.
Dulaney reached the final with a 74-61 victory over the Scorpions, in the nightcap. Josh Cornish had the hot hand, scoring a game-high 25 points to lead the Lions.
Dulaney also received 16 points from Che Evans, Jr. and 13 from Ryan Conway. Dulaney built a 40-28 lead at the half and was never serious threatened.
Dawshawn scored 21 points to lead Oakland Mills and Robert Burgess added 19 for the Scorpions.
On Thursday, Oakland Mills and Arundel will meet in the third place consolation game at 5:00 p.m., followed at 7:00 p.m. by the BL/Dulaney championship game.
