A 20-6 run in the second quarter fuels the Warriors victory


Coming off a difficult one point loss to first place Cristo Rey, Beth Tfiloh looked to get back on track, Tuesday, in MIAA C Conference basketball action against a Saints Peter & Paul team which had just knocked off second place Concordia Prep.

Mission accomplished, as the Warriors a big second quarter spurt into a 59-39 victory.

Beth Tfiloh jumped out to a quick 7-1 lead and held a 9-3 advantage at the end of one quarter. The Sabres countered with their 9-3 own run, early in the second quarter, to tie the game at 12, but Beth Tfiloh closed the half on a 20-6 run to take a 32-18 lead into halftime.

Saints Peter & Paul manages to close the gap to 10 on two occasions in the third period, but the Warriors pushed the lead up to 45-30 at the end of three. The lead never got below 12 in the fourth quarter as the Warriors pulled away for a the 20-point victory.

Harris Gartenhaus led the way with a career high 30 points, including 17 in the seconnd quarter, to go along with five assists. Oren Pincever added 10 points and 11 rebounds for his second double-double in a row. Kameron Glazer chipped in with eight points and 12 rebounds.

Beth Tfiloh (10-9 overall) evened its league record at 3-3. The Warriors are in fourth place in the conference. Saints Peter & Paul fell to 1-8 overall and 1-4 in the league.
