Yellowjackets defeat Arundel Christian in double overtime

Timi Akisanya led Chapelgate Christian to a double-overtime win over Arundel Christian with 27 points and 19 rebounds.

Chapelgate Christian bounced back from a lopsided loss to Our Lady of Mount Carmel in its basketball season opener to capture its first win, Friday night, with a 85-81 double overtime decision over Arundel Christian, in Ellicott City.

Chapelgate jumped out to a big 21-10 lead after one quarter, but Arundel Christian got back within four at the half and it was a battle over the final two quarters.

Four Yellowjackets scored in double figures led by a sensational double-double from Time Akisanya, who scored 27 points and grabbed 19 rebounds in the victory. Jax Felder (19 points), Jaylen Marbley (16) and Keon Wright (14) each made major offensive contributions.

Reyjuan Gray was the offensive star for Arundel Christian, finishing with 25 points and BJ Smith added 18.
