Boys’ Latin School’s run at an undefeated league schedule in the MIAA B Conference ended Monday night in Odenton as the No. 13 Lakers were undone by the brilliant play of Emmanuel Toney, who led Annapolis Area Christian School to a 71-55 victory.

Just five Eagles scored in the contest, but four reached double figures led by Toney who poured in a game-high 24 points. Toney had a three-pointer and was a perfect 7-for-7 from the charity stripe.

AACS (12-5 overall, 11-3 MIAA B) started fast and led the Lakers 21-14 at the end of one quarter. The Eagles led by 11 at the half and outscored the Lakers (18-4, 13-1 MIAA B) 18-9 in the final quarter to close out the win with authority. Last month, Boys’ Latin posted a 67-58 decision over AACS on Lake Avenue.

Austin Nwosu added 15 points for the Eagles, while Cam Tucker netted 12 and Taylor Leabhart scored 11. In addition, Miles Meadows just missed double digits, as he finished with nine points.

Boys’ Latin was paced by 15 points from Colin Heacock, with Blair Brooks scoring 14 and Casey Rees adding 12.

The Lakers hold a two-game lead over AACS at the top of the league standings, with four games to play in the regular season. Boys’ Latin will host St. Mary’s on Wednesday and travel to St. Paul’s on Friday, before closing with road games at St. Vincent Pallotti and Severn next week.

AACS will visit Friends on Wednesday and host Severn on Friday.  The Eagles close their regular season with games against Gilman and Pallotti next week.  Pallotti (16-5, 9-3) remains in the chase for one of the top two seeds, but the Panthers will have to play six games before the season closes.
