No. 3 Calvert Hall traveled to Archbishop Spalding, Wednesday, and with several starters shelved for rest or nagging injuries, suffered a 2-0 MIAA A Conference loss to the host Cavaliers, who played inspired defense throughout.
The Cavs were lead by solid midfield play from senior Willie Bernlohr, who had a goal and an assist.
Both goals came in the second half and the first score came when Bernlohr converted a shot from 30 yards, off a pass from Peter Roberts. Second goal came off a Bernlohr free kick with a heading finish from Nick Ashbeck.
Spalding (6-13-1, 3-12) concludes its season on Friday at home against St. Paul’s as the Cavaliers celebrate Senior Night. Calvert Hall (12-5-1, 10-4-1) will also close its regular season with a Senior Night celebration on Friday night against Gilman. The Cards then will await its playoff opponent as it host a semifinal playoff game next week.
