Josh Cornish scored 13 of his 18 points in the fourth quarter and No. 10 Calvert Hall pulled away from No. 12 St. Frances for a 72-60 MIAA A Conference/Baltimore Catholic League basketball victory on Wednesday at Calvert Hall.

Freshman Justin Lewis scored all 11 of his points in the first half as the Cardinals (5-5, 3-2 MIAA A, 2-1 BCL) clung to a 29-27 lead at the intermission. Brendan Adams, who matched Cornish and St. Frances’ Eral Penn for game-high scoring honors, caught fire in the third quarter as he netted eight points in the stanza to help the Cardinals stretch their lead to five.

When he wasn’t scoring, Adams was busy handing out nine assists and grabbing four rebounds. Lewis also delivered a pair of highlight reel blocks on the defensive end and Logan Curtis scored 14 points.

In addition to Penn’s 18 points, St. Frances (3-5, 1-3 MIAA A, 1-3 BCL) got 14 points from Jordan Goodwin and 10 points Adrian Baldwin.
