Saints seek Head Athletic Trainer


St. Mary’s High School is seeking qualified applicants for a Head Athletic Trainer to begin immediately. Candidates are expected to be: enthusiastic hard working, innovative and have excellent communication and organizational skills.

 

Qualifications:

Education: Masters’ Degree Preferred

Experience: Prior high school athletic experience

Certificate/License: NATA Certified Athletic Trainer in good standing with the NATABOC, and possess or be in the process of acquiring licensure, certification or registration from the state of Maryland.

Responsibilities include:

  • Promote and support the mission of St. Mary’s High School.

  • Oversee daily operations of the athletic training room at St. Mary’s High School and athletic

    training room at new athletic team facility on Bestgate Rd.

  • Provide athletic training services for team practices, all home athletic contests and some away

    games. Provides athletic training services to visiting teams.

  • Maintain accurate records of injuries and treatments.

  • Maintain appropriate general treatment orders to be reviewed annually and approved by team

    physician.

  • Provide coaches and athletic director with a list of athletes medically eligible to compete under

    conference regulations each season.

  • Communicate with parents regarding injuries.

  • Oversee part time trainers working with student athletes.

  • Maintain athletic training supplies and inventory.

  • Adherence to MIAA/IAAM conference policies.

  • Provide guidelines to coaches

  • Oversee Athletic Training Club.

  • Collaborate with strength coach and team coaches on individual and team plans regarding injury

    prevention, rehabilitation and proper recovery techniques. Proper instruction to athletes to

    execute these plans.

  • Certify all coaches in CPR.

  • Perform baseline concussion testing and maintain compliance with concussion laws.

  • Assist the Athletic Director as requested.

    This is a ten month full time position that reports to the Athletic Director. Requires evening and weekend duties as well as some travel with teams. Interested applicants should send a cover letter, resume and three professional references to Patty Gateau:
